In view of their location close to walls, perhaps consider horn speakers. These are far more "directional" than conventional box speakers and offer incredible imaging while being less fussy about nearby walls. I've been listening to Avantgarde speakers since 2002 (with occasional unsatisfactory excursions into other types), so I've found them excellent. You could get recent used Unos, or slightly older Duos within your budget, though older AGs are rather deep (back to front) whereas later models are less deep. There's also the Zeros that are very much flatter and I'm told sound excellent. One Zero version is active so no need for amps.

Personally I'd never use a computer as part of my audio system, particularly if you are looking at such high quality speakers as you are. Computers should be used for control only - never for signal. Get a proper streamer or server to feed your DAC with part of your generous budget.
