RE: Choosing Speakers Without Audition?

Pig in a Poke isn't just a saying over there...

Website says this:

"Please note that because of the wide range of model and veneer options and that each pair is ordered to the clients individual specification we do not operate the 14-day trail period that is available to purchasers of BorderPatrol brand products."

I'm looking at the IBX-R4, or the IBX-RW4. You are right, they all do look the same. I'm pretty sure I'd be happy with them after some emails exchanged with Kevin Scott, but the difference between those 2 models is almost $3500. So either $9300 or $12,750. That would be worth determining whether my not golden ears could discern the difference between them. Under "normal" circumstances it would be a plane trip and a trial, but Delta (NOT THE AIRLINE) has other plans.

I'm keeping the Avalons, they are such a perfect size and do so many things well. These are the small Symbol speakers they tried to market as HT speakers. I had the chance to trade up at full credit towards a demo pair of Eclipses a few months after I bought them, but chose to keep them. The sound was very close, and the size was perfect. They will go into the bedroom. About the same size as stand mounts on stands.

Maybe the Audio Note's will knock my socks off, who knows. The rest of the offerings around here are just dreary. Lots of overly expensive, in your face options that might be impressive to the high dollar, look what I can afford set, but from what I've heard not musically satisfying.
