RE: Speaker cables sound different

It doesn't make them skeptics, it makes them right. Speaker cables DON'T affect the sound of a system that much. Relatively speaking.
Transducers and active components have far more effect on system sound than simple, passive interface components like cables. This is a basic concept.

That said, only an idiot would posit that cables 'can't' have an effect. They certainly could.
There are myriad combinations of power amplifier and speaker load interfaces that could possibly be altered by the usage of a speaker cable with large LCR trade-offs. And/or some sort of RFI/EMI vulnerability.

The issue with cables has never been about potential for audibility. It's always been about the value of said cable products and whether they justify the (sometimes) huge asking prices.

Dave.
