Any suggestions for inexpensive way to connect up an HSU sub on the cheap?
I am looking to integrate the HSU sub that has long been in storage with a pair of ELAC Reference DBR 6.2s
I have a tube preamp and 25 wpc OTL tube power amp. The preamp does not have any subwoofer output or crossover functionality. I am hesitant to buy the $30 passive inline high pass filters, I presume they will negatively effect the signal to the main speakers (years ago I tried the inline attenuators and did not like the result).
The sub has a plate amp and accepts both speaker level and line level inputs.
I will probably try leaving the ELACs full range and just augmenting with the sub, but since the tube amp is only 25wpc it is probably worth a try filtering the bottom from the main speakers if possible.
The ELACs are not really crying out for sub augmentation, but since they are "bookshelf" speakers, and the HSU is in storage anyway, might as well try it.
