RE: Shouldn't 50 watts be enough for any speaker?

I use very high sensitivity (104dB) speakers, in active tri-amp configuration

it goes like this:

low bass under 60Hz: a pair of JMLab / Focal Electra SW900 (powered subs)

60> 500Hz: 15" Eminence drivers in Peavey FH1 horns (104dB)

500> 20KHz: EV horn, John Allen driver, Beyma tweeter, passive crossover @ 6KHz. (104dB)

I use 8 watts class D (TA2024 based) amp on the high pass; and I've been using for a couple of years a 25watts amp on the 60 to 500 range. I thought, because of the extreme lows not being on the menu, and the high sensitivity, it should be fine. Only recently did I purchase a 100watts class D amp to replace the 25watts, and I must say, it really does sound much better. Impact and dynamics are much better even at low volumes. Maybe it's the woofer sending too much EM backwards that makes the smaller amp inadequate? but in any case, I was shocked!
