If you're interested in Dynaudio, skip the Evoke 20. I'm a Dynaudio fan and follow impressions of their speakers posted on several different forums. While people seem to be pretty happy with the Evoke line, the one model that keeps drawing some negative opinions is the Evoke 20. It's also a bit of an odd model in the lineup design-wise, with relatively large mid-woofer for a two-way and an unusually high crossover frequency.
The Evoke 30 is the one you should be considering. It has small woofers in a compact 2.5-way floorstanding design. It has similar bass extension to the Evoke 20, but in a smaller footprint and with a little higher sensitivity and output. It sounds very neutral and the soundstaging and imaging is first rate. I was quite impressed with it.
I really like most Dynaudio speakers, but I have mixed feelings about Harbeth. My local dealer is the Harbeth importer, so I've heard several of the models. P3ESRs are my favorite (within their limits). C7ES are good. M30 are good but kind of mellow. I didn't like M40. Although I didn't hear them under the same conditions, my gut feel is that the M30 is more laid back than just about any of the Dynaudio line.
So if you're looking for the same voicing, you won't find it from Dynaudio. If you're looking for something that's faster and more lively than the M30 but is still a little relaxed in the treble, especially the top octave, then give the Dynaudio a try. The bass is tighter, so you may find them a little lean at first listen.
