I briefly owned a pair of Harbeth SHL5 30th Anniversary speakers. At the time I'd been using JM Reynaud Offrandes for years. I wanted to try something new.
It didn't work out for me. I suspect the problem was that they weren't a good fit for my small room. After listening for about a week I found that they tended to make everything kind of sound the same. If I had to pick a flavor that matched what I was hearing I'd call it vanilla. I just got bored. I sold them, went back to the Offrandes with a great sigh of relief. I eventually upgraded to the Offrande Supremes V.2, a move which ended any search for better speakers. For those of you familiar with this speaker I think you know what I mean.
Again, I'm not dumping on Harbeth. I've heard them at shows where they sounded absolutely wonderful. It just didn't work out for me.
