You sure about "most"?

Not counting AVRs, every audio amplifier I've ever owned has had a differential output stage.

Even if you're right and I'm an exception, it doesn't matter one bit to the OP's question because the speaker doesn't know and doesn't care whether one binding post is at a constant potential or not. It only responds to the difference in potential between the two binding posts.
