RE: Does the speaker wire that is used have an effect on the impedance

The answer is yes. Anything connecting the amplifier to the speaker will have an effect (however small) on the system impedance seen by the amplifier.
In most cases it will not be audible nor measurable. However, the audio cable industry produces some crazy products for this application. :) Some speaker cables are highly capacitive and can cause issues. Some have little boxes with RC shunts built in. Some are shielded. Some can act as decent antennas. Etc, etc.
