Ken Kessler, perhaps the biggest LS3/5a advocate is a big fan of stacked LS3/5a's.
I understand liking stacked 2 ways. They sound warmer and smoother and more musical with a fuller less differentiated sound stage. They definitely lose transparency and precise imaging and clarity. I recall John Crabbe, a great editor of Hi Fi News describing the Acoustic Research LST, a speaker with multiple drivers covering the mids and highs as a sonic wodge of sound. That's a good description of double Advents.
