Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

nomenclature notwithstanding

I think that the fulcrum for folks' investing in powered loudspeakers may be a sense that the loudspeaker manufacturer knows what their product(s) should sound like, and a purpose-built/custom-tuned 'solution' may represent the best of all possible worlds.

I am specifically thinking of the powered morph of KEF's popular LS50 loudspeaker when I type this.

I also don't think there's any issue in 2020 with on-board amplification being inadequate in terms of power a priori .

all the best,
mrh
