Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: To both questions... No and No...

The 12inch Isophon woofer

as you can see it looks mint, being protected from the front by the unremovable front grill, and from the back by the sealed enclosure. Not a spot of dust in there!

The polystyrene "box" is the enclosure for the two midrange drivers. Today I covered it (externally) with bitumen sheets and foam, I figured it wouldn't do much, but I like the idea it is really inert. I also removed the old foam on the back panel only, put a layer of bitumen, then a layer of new eggs crate foam (quality stuff from Germany, quite dense and heavy). I have the impression bass is now neater and there is less roominess but I really never paid much critic attention to these speakers so it's probably just placebo effect.

I ordered the caps and just waiting for delivery to continue the work.
