Since I'm gonna have to stay locked home for a few weeks or more, I've decided to tackle a small restauration project:
I have these old Isophon speakers in my bedroom, they are three ways with a 12" woofer, two 4" mids, and one 1" dome tweeter, in a sealed enclosure.
I want to replace the capacitors in the crossover, and part of the wiring, and install banana plugs in the back panel.
I've opened them up yesterday and the crossover is quite basic: a ferrite coil, and three caps: 50uF, 15uF, 1,5uF.
I've decided to go for Jantzen Crosscaps for the 15 and 1,5, and Alcap electrolytic for the 50.
The whole project should be as cheap as possible for these flea-market speakers that cost me 30$ and are driven by a 70$ SMSL class D amp.
Is it actually worth upgrading the internal wiring? might be just too much work for any perceivable improvement on those?
