RE: Subwoofer Placement

Due to the shape of my room - essentially a large open space with the system placed against the long wall, about a third of the length - the left subwoofer is placed about two feet left of the left speaker, which puts it about 40% of the total width of the space; the right sub is placed about 5 feet of the right speaker, in the front right corner of the space; initial placement is due to WAF factors and other annoying stuff like furniture and daily life practicality factors... but it sounds good enough.
When dialing things together I start by setting up the left sub so that it gives reasonable (if slightly subdued) bass output then I slowly dial in the right sub, that is in a corner, until the bass seems to come from the space between the speakers; that's also what gives maximum impact at listening position. The subs are fed a stereo signal straight from the preamp and are low-passed at around 60Hz.
