Nelson's analysis is correct, but he didn't present it in a way that wouldn't confuse audiophiles.

Just to be clear....you can't accomplish this by simply switching polarity of speaker cables. However, some speakers are pretty good at generating even-order distortion. :)

And even if you do implement a switchable relative phase change upstream somewhere, you're still in an absolute-polarity-like conundrum of not knowing which way is "correct" and which way is "not correct" without auditioning everything.....and assuming you could even identify a difference.

What an effing can of worms. :)
