Tubes that won't bias properly or hold the bias is a sure sign the tube is finished. DC current moves loudspeaker diaphragms in one direction only so no sound is produced. Excessive DC will overheat the voice coil of loudspeakers and put them 'out-of-round' if overheated. This is the danger associated with OTLs as output transformers do not pass DC currents.
