it may respond favorably to being shimmed 180 degrees away from the side where it is dragging. The shim can be a piece of foam slipped under the surround (i.e., 'twixt frame and surround). This is a crude but effective way :) of realigning the cone (and thus the moving parts at the motor). It may sound barbaric, but it can often rescue a driver with a dragging VC with little or no (?!) audible consequence. BTDT.You can test this, IME, by gently pushing on the surround with fingertips, working your way around the driver (when it's buzzing) -- if you find a spot that relieves the dragging VC, it'll stop buzzing. Generally, you'd shim opposite that spot.
If the VC is deformed, e.g., from overheating, you're pretty much left with looking for a replacement driver.
Have you pulled the driver to see if it might be something more prosaic than it is reputed to be?
all the best,
