General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I bought a pair of these the other day. The vocals sound very good but they seem a bit rough on some songs. They are circa mid 90's I believe; does anyone know if the crossover caps may need to be changed or of any revisions to get them humming? They also have two contour switches on the back, may need to clean these up a bit.
