I suspect JGH was talking in room with room lift, the situation we actually live with. I had ATC speakers in my room that were down 6 dB at 68 Hz according to ATC but were up 8 dB in my room and were not boomy.

Actually after checking Gordon said the A25 was flat to 55 Hz and rattled windows at 50 Hz in the review. But again it was the bass quality that he was especially impressed with.

The AR3 should be 3 dB down around 40 Hz anechoically from data I've seen. You're correct about 1 kHz crossover for the AR3, about 1.5 kHz for the KLH 6 and 2 kHz for the AR 2. All these would have significant dispersion change at crossover. The AR3a was a bit better with I believe a 575 Hz crossover. The dispersion change is a bit better here but still significant.
