RE: Outboard Active vs Inboard Pasive xovers - preference?

normally the simplest crossovers are 1st order which are almost never used because modern drivers are not flat. The main exception was Thiel which ended up with a terribly complex crossover even though it was 1st order because first he used passive parts to equalize his drivers.

By the way even complex passive crossovers(even of the same order) can vary in their reactiveness and one of the secrets of a good passive crossover is minimizing the reactive affect.

This could be a 'complex' discussion but I won't make it that. I still believe that a good active crossover will beat a good passive one every time.
