Underhung voice coils(coil shorter than magnetic gap) in drivers are supposed to be more linear than the conventional over hung coils(coil longer than the gap). But they seem to be extremely rare( except for dome tweeters where they are common)and are more costly to make. The only suppliers I can think of are Audio Technology and ATC in England sold some.
Does anyone know of other examples of underhung coil drivers available to the home speaker builder?
