Good question. I have one pair of old 3-ways that have the tweeter and mid mounted horizontally in the cabined above the woofer. I hav toyed with the idea of trying them horizontally on the stands. The problem I see with this though the left and right speakers are identical. So putting them horizontally on the stands would either leave both woofers to the left of the HF/MF, or the HF/MF drivers to be opposite of the other speaker.
