I hooked up my Kenwood KA-770D integrated to the Avance speakers and after swapping speaker cables I appear to have the system dialed in. The amp is actually a late 80s vintage (88-89) and puts out 80 watts channel minimum which is more than enough power.
To say that I'm impressed with the combination is an understatement. I cannot fault the Kenwood amp at all. It has a bass punch, openness, detail and smoothness that I didn't expect to get from an 80s midfi piece of electronics. It's every bit as good as the Yaqin 5881A tube integrated I was using with the upgraded Tungsol reissue 7581 tubes only more punch.
I picked this up a few months back for $70 as a back up while I waited to buy an all tube integrated. It was a perfect match for a pair of B&W DM 580 speakers I had at the time. I have owned some pricey equipment over the past 35+ yrs and I would easily stack the Kenwood against any $1,000 audiophile integrated today. I just wonder how much other excellent vintage stuff from the 70s-80s is out there. I had my share and most were mediocre at best. I highly recommend this amp for anyone lokking for a budget piece.
