What you say might be true in a way but a sub/satellite system can provide very high quality full range audio performance at a fraction of the cost of the same quality full-range speakers. Another advantage to the sub/satellite speaker system is better imaging and soundstage because the satellites need to be placed away from walls for the best soundstage while subwoofers usually provide better bass when close to walls. Unless you have a lot of money to spend on full-range speakers, you can get equivalent performance from a sub/satellite system for a lot less money.
