a/d/s was formed around 1972 to manufacture and sell Braun speakers here in the U.S. Some models were identical to the Brauns, other than cosmetics. Others were original designs using the Braun drivers, and, I think, later their own drivers. The L700 and L800 series from both companies were full-range models I could easily live with. The ones I've had seemed to like s/s over tubes.
Though certainly dated today, many people still enjoy them. Though mids and highs were on the "polite" side, Sterling Sound used a pair of the LV-1020's (pictured - internally tri-amped) in one of their mastering rooms until just a few years ago. Bottom end on all of them fast and a little lean. My tiny L300's are ridiculously good for their size and price.
