He certainly should try it, but a proper amp is required. I stack a pair of AR 3's on top of a pair of AR 3a's, and use a Crown XLS1000 pro amp to drive them all. It can safely handle loads of 2 ohms, and generate 525 watts doing it. I stack them horizontally, and I like the results. There are several variations of the Crown XLS series, the 1000 being the smallest, power wise. They represent a great bang for the buck.
