I'm looking for some information on the earlier Reference 3a Royal Master and Control Master. There may have even been a Royal Master Contorl model and I want to clear up any confusion. I'm selling a pair of Reference 3a speakers for a friend who swears they are the Royal Masters. I have no reason to doubt him as he is honest and I have known him for over 10 years. He bought these as dealer demos about a year after Jonathan Valins review in The Absolute Sound review in 1994. They were $5000 a pair back then. I first heard them in his $50K system about 10-11 years ago and was greatly impressed. I now have them for sale on AA and US Audio Mart. They have the walnut solid wood side panels and are wired internally with silver wire which I believe to be Siltech. The only markings on rear are Master Serie 92dB, 8 ohm 120 watts. I have a potential buyer that refuses to believe these are indeed the Royal Masters but the lesser Master Control. Ser # is 025254. Any help clearing this up is appreciated.
