Give your speakers more time. After about a hundred hours they should sound better.
My room is 16 X 24, they are located on the narrow end five feet from the back wall six feet apart facing parallel with the side walls. No plug.
I use a modified Citation II or one of several PP EL84 amps. 12 watts will work OK but more would be slightly better.
I sold much loved early Harbeth LS3/5As after buying the KEF LS50 Anniversary. It pains me to say it but the KEF is the better speaker.
HUGE deep wide tall sound stage, wonderful detail but best is they make music come alive.
I'm still not sure the speaker location I'm using is perfect but frankly I don't care it sounds great.
