I lived with the older version, 2Ci, for a number of years and loved them. I miss them sometimes. There is a reason the 2 series have sold a ton of models over the many years, they fill a good position with value and performance. Not the speaker for someone who cherishes the ultimate amount of detail, but their tonality was a strength as well as their ability to be dynamic. The sound anchors are a big plus to have.
I always felt as I upgraded sources and electronics, the Vandersteens found another gear and sounded better as my system improved. They did benefit from biwired speaker cabling which is an additional cost.
