Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Is it possible to modify older high-end speakers?

I have owned a pair of B & W Nautilus 802's since they were first produced in the late 1990's and have been extremely satisfied with their performance over the years. During that time, I have made numerous upgrades to my source, amplification and cabling, and everytime I made a change my B & W's sounded better and better. Obviously there have been dramatic improvements in the state of the art, and many times I have been tempted to sell the 802's purchase the latest and greatest. But I find that I am very comfortable with the B & W balanced performance and overall sound quality.

So my question: Is it possible, and more important desireable, to consider modding my "old friends"? Could the B & W Diamond technology perhaps be incorporated in the 802's?

Pete
