As a Maggie fanatic, I'd hate to see you give them up before you got the best out of them. A few things done to the MMG's may just make you want to keep them. The suggestions on using sub(s) to fill out the bottom are great ones. You mention using absorber panels. Pull them out of there and begin with just diffusion panels on the wall behind the speakers. It makes a big difference. Have you experimented to get the placement you have now? With Maggies, placement is everything and it's the best free tweak you can get. Do you still have your MMG's on the stock feet? Those things are no good. Aftermarket or DIY stands will make you never listen to Maggies on stock feet again! Holding the panels upright and rigidly in place will begin to give you a glimpse of Maggie Magic.
All this before we even mention modding the speakers themselves ;^)
