I did not say the 23 was not a true 2-way.
As I think about it, I don't know what an untrue 2-way would be. :)
I think I was referring to a purpose-built model like the 6 or 17, each of which enjoyed a long time in the KLH line-up, vs. the 23, which simply used drivers they had on hand from the 3-way Model Five, but it didn't have the mid-range.
So in the strictest sense it was a true 2-way, derived from off-the shelf parts from a 3-way that already had been produced for many years.
Bottom line, most listeners of that era preferred the 17 & 6 to the 23. In fact, a lot if us preferred the 17 overall, due to its exceptional voicing (compared to the competition).
And they greatly preferred the large Advent as well.
This comparo was simply a reply to your query, in order to provide a little background, not intended in any way to disparage your 23s.
I'd think you got the 23s at a great price, one at which you could derive considerable enjoyment for the money you spent for them
Hope that helped.

Jim Smith
