Where is it written that large cabinets cannot house loudspeakers (drivers) that have excellent resolution or that a cabinet large enough for good low end response somehow contaminates the overall response, accuracy, speed, smoothness etc. Did someone mention Cerwin Vega? Oh yeah. That was you.
You CAN have it all if you are willing to spend the cash and/or shop around for good used loudspeakers.
Smaller loudspeakers are in demand for numerous reasons such as spousal approval (smaller foot-print), cheaper to buy, easier to move and situate in a given space (generally), makes a better near-field monitor so it works better in smaller listening rooms and probably a few more reasons if I wished to spend more time on someone who is prejudiced against large floor standing loudspeakers. Why??
I never have understood why some 'inmates' get so worked up when personal preferences of others do not jive with their own.
It would be a very mundane existence if we all thought the same and used the same gear. Wouldn't it.
Cheers.
