I've had both the HII and the HIII, and, while I prefer the HIII, I've heard of folks preferring the HII. Personally, the only thing I sort of liked better about the HII was that they were highly directional speakers, and I liked to set them up so that they could play loud in one room, and not blast the rest of the house. With the HIII, the sound travels much more.
For a high efficiency set up, I much prefer my single driver (fostex?) Omegas, but, unlike the HIII, they aren't for rocking out and they have no bass. Still, with the right electronics, the HIIIs have nice micro-dynamics and unlike desperado I did not find them at all fatiguing. If you like the Klipsch sound, they should do just fine with your Scott amp.
I built my HIIIs from a kit I got directly from Klipsch. I think the kit was about $250, but it only included the guts. I had to use my old HIIs for the enclosures. Only took a few hours to put it together.
