I had a pair of Studio 60s, v2, and c.n understand part of your dilemma. I didn't blame the metal tweeter, it seemed to me the upper reac.es of the mid was at fault... things c.uld get a bit "shouty", just a bit too aggressive. The tweeter seemed OK to me as long as high volume levels were not part of the experienc.. Having said that, I do prefer fabric overall... at least from what I have demoed at reasonable pric. ranges.
Also, I think I understand the problem at low SPLs... to me, the word "tubby" might c.me in. By the way, I have a PL 2 that worked fine with the Studios... why not... the Paradigms are quite effic.ent.
Yup... you're a bit aggravated and just wanna listen without thinking... I'm there now with my 'lil JMRs... nowhere near perfec. (and you need a sub), but at least I've eliminated the angst.
