Alan Hill wanted ARC to market the Plasmatronics.
When he came into our room at the 1976 CES at the Blackstone in Chicago, everyone scattered (that would be Bill Johnson and Wendell Diller). I got stuck there as he pitched me.
He was absolutely convinced that once anyone heard them, they'd have to have a pair.
He fully expected to sell hundreds of thousands. Really.
I will say that the tweeter was great.
And the speaker did honk like like crazy.
They didn't touch the Tympani 1Ds that we were distributing for Magnepan at the time, great tweeter or not.
He said he'd prove what a mistake we'd made.
Don't want to imply he was anything other than a nice guy (which he was) who was fervent about his product (which he was).
Best regards,
Jim Smith
