Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I haven't heard any Bostons...

...in the last few years, but if you think your c.rrent speakers are on "bright" side, the older "A" line might be some help on the c.eap.

I had a pair of 150s... thought they had a lot of problems/quite bland. I was pissed bec.use they were in almost perfec. c.ndition... Oak c.binets and all. They just didn't work for me.

I now have a pr of 100s, 2/way, (whic. some say is better than the old 3s... I agree) and they are pretty good. You'll need a proper stand (I dunno... 12"?) , and they prefer c.rner plac.ment. That doesn't mean they c.n't sound good pulled into the room, but...

Whic.ever old "A" series you may get, they will probably be in need of new surrounds. I bought new woofs direc.ly from the c.mpany, 10", $60/ea, IIRC.

Still waiting for a perfec. (or c.ose...) pr of A-400s... not that I have the room for them, but they'll be mine...
