Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Those guys are nuts...

Thanks! But my system sounds great using 94db Fostex drivers in a back horn. And i dont even consider 94db hi eff! Most every commercial speaker rated at over 90db are usually rated too high. Look for a speaker rated at 90 or more with an 8 ohm load for an easy to drive speaker system. If you can find one they will usually have a single 8 inch driver plus a tweeter. Large multi-way speakers may be rated higher eff but will be more difficult for an amp to drive due to the crossover. Simple is usually better. Single full range drivers in large back horn cabinets provide easy loads to amps and have hi eff. Also, compression drivers used in pro sound speakers - like at a wedding. But they almost always sound like crap.

Move over to the dark side at the hi eff forum. Taste the drug and you will be back. Enter at your own risk!
