Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I think there are many better choices than Arcam

First, because Arcam uses UK Din connectors and UK speaker posts(like Naim and Linn), your choice of cabling is severly limited or requires the use of adaptors.

Second, it has been my direct experience that amps like Arcam (yes, I did have a robust Naim system driving VSM-MXs)do not mate well with merlins. Although I understand that TSMs may be better suited than VSMs.

Third, you have so many other choices that are tried and true with Merlins:

- Sim Audio
- Rogue Audio
- Manley
- Audio Analogue
- Blue Circle
- Cary....?

So, my question is.....why are you leaning to Arcam? Unless they have changed their cabling (unlikely since it has something to do with safety in the UK), are you open to alternatives?

However, Bobby will steer you right.

My $.02....
