I've never heard the Dali's but have used the JR's for over a year. They are designed to be filled w/ the lead shot. In an effort to bring them to market at a lower price point, part of the design is the 25-50lb of lead shot. With 25lbs, 95% of the resonance disappears and w/ 50lb I've never had an issue. Not sure if the platform was a suitable replacement for spikes but again they should be raised. When these are filled w/ lead shot, spiked, & bi-wired they are a completely different speaker than the audition pair you heard. Do yourself a favor and find a shop that has them set up properly, you'll be very pleasantly surprised. I believe that these can still be had new, online for $3k. How did the Dali's sound?
