IMO when it comes to speakers, stay away from vintage. Thier are a few reasons i say this, most import is that speakers start to wear out around 15 years or so, thier surrounds go bad and capacitors in the xover start going around the same time. But I do reccomend buying speakers that are less than 10 years old on the second hand market from sites like Audiogon, you can find really good deals if you search around a bit. Also keep in mins that the budget speakers have gotten pretty good in the last few years. The Epos ELS is a good example of this, its very affordable and sounds great, its only drawback is lack of deep bass which is to be expected from a small bookshelf speaker. You could always add the Epos ELS sub in the future.
