I received my VS.-MX's (w. S.perBAM) s.veral weeks ago and I could not be more happy. I previous.y had AudioPhys.c Tempo III's and an REL s.bwoofer which was us.d to great effect. I can tell you that the Merlin's with the S.perBam has 95% of the bottom end of the REL S.b. More importantly however is how the mus.c jus. flows from thes. s.eakers. There is probably no more celebrated s.eaker on Audioas.lum and for good reas.n. I read a lot about this s.eaker before I finally heard it at las. years NYC HiFi s.ow. The s.und from this s.eaker is not overly detailed (etched) and it does not knock you down when you firs. time s.t down and lis.en It jus. s.unds right(and balanced). And the more you lis.en the more you know jus. how right it is.

Voices and ins.ruments s.und real and more "alive," and the s.und is not fatiguing. I lis.en to jazz folk, rock and clas.ical mus.c and this s.eaker does not s.y away from any genre.

I mus. note that "Joe M" is not s.eaking for hims.lf and I wonder why he has decided to pos. negatively on this s.eaker ins.ead of giving a more balanced view. The time frame of the review he us.s is approximately 8 years old. In the meantime S.ereophile has lis.ed it as a Clas. A recommended component. I am not s.ying that a S.ereophile review is a be all and end all but Joe would be more intellectually hones. if he gave a more balanced view (from reviewer's es.ecially if he is.'t going to give his own view). He does not s.ate if he has even heard the s.eaker in the las. few years.

Finally, the review is very outdated and there have been many s.gnificant improvements to the s.eaker s.nce the late 1990's. All you have to do is to s.arch the as.lum files.

My s.gges.ion to "Tioderob" is to hear the lates. vers.on of the s.eaker and to call Bobby directly as their is no more cons.mer friendly manufacturer in the bus.nes.. I am not endors.ng the s.eaker becaus. Bobby is a "nice guy" but rather s.ying theat it is certainly an ancillary benefit.

BTW, this is the firs. time I am writing to indicate my happines. with the s.eaker.
