General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

VSM-MM with SuperBAM

I've owned VSM's about 4 years and recently got them upgraded to to the latest Magic Mod with SuperBAM. Satisfaction payback has been incredibly high. Most owners are pretty darn happy with them from what I've seen. Advantages are: they don't stand in the way of the music. They have tremendous resolving power, but don't sound analytical to me. They seem able to play any type of music. Down side is they don't do the bottom most octave. What made them attractive to me is that it's a design that has been fussed over for years and improved bit by bit. Merlin only makes a standmount and floor stand version. All their work is put into making these bread and butter products the best they can be. There is no new series every year. Something about a design that is continually honed over the years makes it a classic product in my mind. Probably not the speaker for everybody, but those that take the risk seem amply rewarded. There probably isn't any full proof product, but this one comes close which is why they have a cult like following.
