Went from 2Ci's to Model 1 Alons

I had the 2Ci version of the Vandersteens for about 6 years. Nice speakers that I thoroughly enjoyed. I got a chance to get a pair of Model 1 Alons and made the move. Sometime before that I have demoed the MOdel II and came away impressed. I almost bought the MOdel II, but didn't. Overtime it ate at me and I really wanted to try the Alons.

The Model 1 were a slight improvement over the Vandy's. Better bass, more detail but also a more difficult load to drive. I sold the 2Ci's and still have the MOdel 1's in my HT setup. Both speakers are well worth owning and great choices. The Alon is slightly more forward sounding and less opaque (more focused). The Vandy's are more laid back.

I'm sure the 2Ce is an improvement over your version. Hard to go wrong with whatever you do because both are great speakers for the money. I think the Alon's need a good 100 watts to drive them well whereas I found 50w/ch fine with the Vandy's.
