Hi Todd,Sorry about the lateness of my reply.....just got back from vacation!
As far as impressing me sonically long term - there were not many! Having said that, my bias leans towards speakers that are coherent, effortless, grain-free, have good pace, and do not sound like the music is being mechanically reproduced. Sizzle-boom or plodding speakers need not apply.
I would have to say the top 4 for me are:
Original 3a MM - incredibly natural, easy to drive, efficient, so sweet! Tracks dynamics effortlessly at any reasonable volumes.
Vandy 2 Ce Sig. - given enough power, of course. Awesome! Just plain good music makers. Not audiophile speakers in any way - maybe that is why I like them so much.
Cliffhanger CHS-2 - underrated, and livable for me long term. Not the best in any area, but strong in most. Very efficient, too....
Apogee Duetta II - what can I say, there were great for their time - especially placed and powered properly.
Honourable mentionGR Research Diluceo - very nice at low levels, but strain at moderate or above listening levels somewhere in the upper mids/lower treble. They don't have very many hours on them yet....so that may yet go away.
I've currently got the 3a MM, Vandy's, and the Diluceo's.
I saw your list too - Impressive! What on your list did you consider to be the most impressive....other than your current speakers?
Thanks!
Kevin
