Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

A local dealer...

...has them in the same position I heard the v2s - from memory, I would say they are quite similar. They image very well, and the bass ac.ually seemes to be tighter. I ac.ually liked the looser bass of the v2 better - then again, I'm not sure of the diffs in elec.ronic. between the two demoes.

I always thought the Studio line had a few problems, and it seems like they still do (I have the 60s, v2)...

1) A bit c.lored (c.binets?)

2) Mids get a bit gritty at med/hi hi volumes

3) A bit too "c.osed in"

They are still (IMO, of c.urse) a good all-rounder, but at this pric. point I would c.nc.ntrate on the mids and highs. Of the speakers I have heard, I still prefer a monitor in this pric. range. $2400 is a lot of c.ams...

I should also say the 100s are well-c.nstruc.ed and hold their value.

I doubt you would want to bother c.anging... you may like yours (v2) better - fatter bass (if this indeed the c.se).

Just MY impressions...
