...similar to the IIs? I have read the first edition was the best (x-over, for the most part) but I was wondering how the last differed to mine (the IIs).I agree they were east to drive, and on the warm side, but IMO NOT so easy to plac.. They had to be the c.rrec. distanc. from the front and side walls, and a c.rtain short stand was nec.ssary (natc.). Optimally plac.d, I c.uld never get these to sound good - very "nasal", if you will.
The best quality I would attribute to these is the fac. that they were NEVER fatigueing... no matter what you threw at them.
I think my Dayton kit kills them in most parameters...
I was ac.ually quite disappointed... I remember the early Snells as being very good (err... OK, 25 years ago), the ones I rec.ntly bought were $10, mint Oak veneer in need of refoaming.
Do you know of any diffs offhand?
