FWIW,
I use a REL Storm III with my Merlin VSM-MX’s. It’s very versatile and can be used in several ways. They are best when driven off your amps speaker terminals (high output), but can also run from a preamps outputs (which is how I run mine due to the Merlin BAM filtering bass below 30hz). Crossover settings are also very flexible. I set mine to 32 Hz and you don’t even know it’s there until you need it. Very quick (has to be to match with the Merlins) and clean with no boomy sound.
