Not sure what your point is, but I had an interesting experience the other day that I thought I'd share. I own the Merlin VSM-Ms and was out looking at turntables. The setup was a well known solid state integrated and well known brand of speakers both of which have plenty of fans on these boards. After living with my Merlins for about 9 months, I guess I'm spoiled, because the instruments coming out of this rig couldn't have sounded any more fake to me. The soundstage was pretty nice, but it was so inferior to the sound of the Merlins that I was really almost taken aback.You know, any idiot can make DIY speakers using parts similar to Merlins. I'll bet you $1,000 and give you 100-1 odds that not one can make them sound like Bobby can.
