boy, i'd love to purchase a whole wharehouse full of drivers at that price. i can't purchase them for anywhere close to that.
not to slight you but drivers are only a small portion of what makes a design work and the truth is, the application of them turns out to be more important. it just so happens that we use extremely expensive and rare internal components, proprietery networks, extremely expensive finishes, packaging etc., etc., etc. in essense almost 50% of this system is proprietery. you picked on a very poor example because if i showed you my actual cost of that whole speaker pair, you wouldn't believe your eyes. plus, i have one of the smallest markups in the business and definitely put as much or more time into r+d as anyone does.
as far as diyers are concerned, i absolutely defy you to get a set of those drivers to sound anywhere close to as good as we can make them sound. and if i didn't think that the speaker was competative against things that cost many times more, i would have pulled it off the market.
